Queer British Art

Queer British Art (QBA) – part of British Art Network – has been established with the aim of nurturing relationships between academics, curators, educators, artists to support queer programming within institutions and to enhance understanding of the richness of queer British art history. It was established by Charlotte Keenan McDonald, Head of the Walker National Museums Liverpool, and is currently led by Dominic Bilton, Project Producer at the Whitworth.

QBA has provided an important forum for research but also for members to network and has led to new creative collaborations outside the group.

The collaboration between Queer British Art Network and Working Class British Art Network has resulted into a Call for Papers and conference ‘Stretching the Canon: Working Class and Queer British Art Today’’ held at the Whitworth on Friday, September 6th 2024.
